In 1871, a group of 13 Baptist believers gathered in the Media borough court house for the first prayer meeting of what would become our church’s first congregation. The group grew in size and began meeting in private homes for preaching and prayer. Within a year, enough funds were raised to construct their own church building. On May 2, 1872 the building was completed and dedicated to the worship of God. Almost 140 years later, the structure still stands and is used for the Sunday school room and nurseries.

January 24, 1909 celebrated the opening of a new, larger building. To this day we gather in its auditorium to praise and worship the same God who gave our first generation the vision to begin FBC so many years ago, and who has richly blessed the thousands of men and women who have been making First Baptist their local church home ever since.
